The Katowice Special Economic
Zone is the leader among Polish special economic zones. So far we have
attracted over 140 business entities, 80 of which have been already
producing, while others are at different levels of their projects
realization. In total the companies have invested over EUR 2 billion
and have created over 25,000 new jobs.
General Motors Opel car plant is the biggest investment in the Katowice
SEZ. Over 2700 people are employed there. Other significant investments
in the zone belong to: Japanese Isuzu Motors-production of high-pressure
engines in Tychy and employment of over 1100 people, Delphi Automotive
Systems-production of components for automotive industry and Spanish
Roca-production of sanitary ceramics in Gliwice. In Częstochowa American
Guardian produces "float" glass. Fiat-GM Powertrain Polska
has invested almost EUR 400 m in production of the most modern 1.3
SDE turbo diesel engines. Over 1350 people work in the plant in Bielsko-Biała.
NGK Ceramics, the Japanese company produces filters for cleaning
the particulate emissions of diesel engines (every second Diesel
engine in the world will be equipped with a filter coming from Gliwice).
The white goods sector is developing with the leading investment
of Electrolux.
The Katowice SEZ is the place where not only big multinationals but
also quickly developing local enterprises have located their businesses.
In D±browa Górnicza the leading producer of materials for laying
ceramic tiles, Atlas company, has invested in its plant. Z.M. Duda
Co., an important manufacturer of meat products in the southern Poland
market, employs over 2,800 people in Sosnowiec. In Żory since 2000
Mokate Co. has been producing Mokate Cappuccino, frequently drunken
instant coffee. Press-Glas, a dynamically developing Polish company,
produces glazed units in Tychy.
The Katowice Special Economic Zone Co. in Katowice, as an administrator
of the economic zone, except for its statutory activity offers additional
services supporting companies active within the zone and its surrounding:
-active mediation in the real estate market in the zone surrounding,
consulting services and training in problems related to the activity
in special economic zones;
-the database of potential contractors to realise investment projects
in the zone
-one-stop-shop;
- rental of office and storage space;
- activity supporting the regional cooperation;
- personnel advising and trainings run by the Personnel Development
Centre based in the Tychy sub-zone;
- services in the occupational medicine;
- support to cultural, sports and charity organizations;
- support to ‘STREFART’ Young Artist Gallery.

up to
40% of 2-year labor costs for new jobs created.
- small enterprises are granted up to 60%
- medium enterprises are granted up to 50%
The real estate tax relief (decided by the local authorities).
